FFVDP
In collaboration with the Linsi Foundation, Thozhamai is implementing the Family Focused Village Development Programme (FFVDP). This initiative is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities by supporting vulnerable individuals and guiding them toward self- sufficiency and resilience.
Since 2006, Thozhamai has been dedicated to uplifting oppressed urban communities through human rights advocacy and community development. With our deep expertise in urban settings, we are excited to expand our impact by working more extensively with rural communities.
In the past, our engagement in rural areas was limited to disaster response. Today, we are committed to ongoing, transformative work with 232 families across six villages in Chengalpattu District. These villages include:
- Annai Sathya Nagar
- Edarkundram
- Pulikundram
- Karambur
- Periya Putheri
- Nallan Pillai Petral
This expansion allows Thozhamai to support rural communities in building stronger, self- sufficient futures, fostering development and solidarity every step of the way.

Leadership
To help individuals and communities to express themselves confidently and find ways to access diverse avenues for development.
The need to identify and articulate their issues and concerns to find a voice in their own development.
To gain confidence to approach administrators and other stakeholders to advocate for themselves and find solutions.
CBO’s for the comunity:

Education To promote access to education for children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Education includes awareness raising on healthy nutrition and hygiene practices.
Families are made aware of the need to educate their children and to send them to school, instead of allowing child labour or early marriages.
Household To care for a green village and clean surroundings, monitoring the needs of the inhabitants of the village: the elderly, those with special needs and the very young.

Healthcare Basic medical needs are taken care of in all aspects. Access to clean water, hygiene practices and sanitation are key elements.
Earnings and Finance
Financial stability and independence enable families to become self-reliant and to manage their finances wisely.
By creating and managing finance and earnings opportunities, they find the resources to build and sustain a family and have children. Self and group accountability is necessary for
everyone to be responsible and quick at decision making.
Family and Community Cohesion
Thozhamai – FFVDP Family and Community Cohesion mission is to promote family – oriented values that will result in ethical practice for improved quality of life. Oneness, respect, caring, sharing, empathy, inclusivity and gender sensitivity are some of the values that need to become embedded in the community culture traditions are revived.
